The EU Council of Ministers Wednesday adopted the list of Commissioners-designate amended by President-elect Jean-Claude Juncker to include the name of the new Slovenian candidate, Violeta Bulc.
Juncker announced that he intends to attribute the Transport portfolio to Violeta Bulc, Slovenian candidate for Commissioner.
Maros Sefcovic, Slovakian Commissioner-designate, will be allocated the portfolio of Vice-President for Energy Union, noted an EU statement.
Both Sefcovic and Bulc will now need to take part in a hearing in the appropriate parliamentary committees of the European Parliament.
In a next step, the European Parliament has to give its consent to all the 28 Commissioners, including the President and the EU High-Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy.
Once the European Parliament has given its consent, the European Council, which includes the 28 EU leaders, will formally appoint the European Commission.
