Dr. Matar Al Neyadi, Under-Secretary at the UAE Ministry of Energy and Chairman of the Organising Committee of the World Energy Conference, which will be hosted by Abu Dhabi in 2019, chaired the UAE delegation participating in the meetings of the World Energy Council currently being held in Lisbon, Portugal.
During the meetings, the UAE National Committee presented a brief report about its preparations to host the World Energy Conference, to take place from 8th to 12th September 2019, under the theme 'Energy for Prosperity'.
Dr. Al Neyadi spoke about the role of energy in achieving prosperity and the efforts of the UAE in maintaining energy to support sustainable development in the world, encourage innovation and foresee the future, as it launched the National Energy Strategy 2050 and the Water Security Strategy 2036.
The UAE is the first OPEC member and the first Arab country to host the international conference, which is held every three years.
