The willingness of customers to switch energy supplier increases in Germany, said the results of a survey by the FOM University of Applied Sciences on Tuesday. The results showed that of the nearly 300 respondents in the survey, 28 percent have changed their energy supplier during the past 12 months, 16 percent plan to switch in the next 12 months and 36 percent are thinking about it. However, with regard to the professional and personal situation of the respondents, Prof. Anke Dieberg Hemmerle with the Department of Energy at the FOM, said, "There are significant differences." Hemmerle said that the willingness to change energy supplier is the greatest in households of more than one person with several children. "High energy prices are clearly more sensitive for households of more than one person than for singles who are rarely at home," said Hemmerle. Parallel to the willingness to change energy supplier, the results of the survey also showed that the interest in green electricity is increasing. According to the survey, 49 percent of respondents who changed their energy supplier have also concluded a green electricity tariff with a new provider.
