The 5th Series World Energy and Environment Conference and Exhibition 2018 opened today at the Sofitel Zallaq Thalassa Spa and Sea Hotel. His Majesty the King’s Personal Representative, Supreme Council for the Environment (SCE) Chairman His Highness Shaikh Abdulla bin Hamad Al-Khalifa delegated SCE Deputy Chairman HH Shaikh Faisal bin Rashid Al-Khalifa to attend the opening ceremony.
The Council of Representatives and the World Energy and Environment Council are co-organising the event under the theme "Shifting to Clean, Renewable Energy in Time of Transition". HH Shaikh Faisal bin Rashid Al-Khalifa stressed the necessity of getting ready to confront challenges resulting from global and climatic changes and embarking on sustainable development.
He underscored the crucial importance of renewable energy as the driving engine to achieve smooth transition to environment-friendly sustainable economy. He stressed the need to step up inter-state cooperation, adding that no single country would be able to withstand mounting challenges.
"The 5th Series World Energy and Environment Conference and Exhibition 2018 represents an important step on the right direction, paving the way for building competences and partnerships", he said. He commended the Council of Representatives and the World Energy and Environment Council for organising the 5th Series World Energy and Environment Conference and Exhibition 2018.
