Miami - UPI

Tropical Storm Leslie will become a hurricane within the next few days, maintaining its slow northerly course up the Atlantic Ocean, forecasters predict. Joining Leslie early Wednesday was Tropical Storm Michael, the National Hurricane Center reported. Leslie was about 490 miles south-southeast of Bermuda at 5 a.m., moving north-northwest at 2 mph. It had maximum sustained winds of 65 mph. Tropical storm winds extend 230 miles outward from Leslie's center. While the NHC said the storm was no danger to land, it cautioned that high surf generated by Leslie would continue to affect Bermuda, the East Coast of the United States from central Florida northward, the Leeward Islands, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. Michael, with highest winds of 50 mph, was far out in the Atlantic, about 1,190 miles west southwest of the Azores. It was moving north at 5 mph. The center said the storm is no threat to land.
