Five exotic snakes and a dead 7-foot python were found at a California Little League field, police said Wednesday. Eight containers were discovered at the field in Torrance, leading investigators to believe two snakes are missing, the Daily Breeze reported. Police warned area residents the snakes might be large constrictors that could eat small pets. Neal Marks, who is in charge of maintenance for the playing fields at Entradero Park, said the missing snakes might have disappeared into drain pipes looking for water. Snakes were found in the park, on a garage roof and in trees. "There was a 7-foot python with its head smashed," Marks said. "There was a corn snake and there was a baby boa in one of the water buckets. We found another 7-footer down here by the fence line." Torrance police Sgt. Robert Watt said the recovered snakes include a reticulated python, a yellow anaconda, a jaguar carpet python, a carpet python and a diamond python, none of them native to California. They are believed to have been kept as pets. Abandoning pets is illegal in California, and the snake dumper could face charges if he or she is caught.
