A Jordanian environmental memory initiative was launched at the Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST) in cooperation between the Ministry of Environment, the Romanian Embassy in Amman and the Queen Rania Al Abdullah Center for Environmental Science and Technology. In remarks at the ceremony, Minister of Environment Taher Shakhshir said the initiative aims at exchanging expertise with a view to boosting environmental cooperation and activating a bilateral cooperation agreement. He added that the agreement will be implemented through a joint ministerial committee and a program for activities and projects, adding the Jordanian environmental memory initiative aims at encouraging environmental work and awareness in addition to highlighting the role of all sectors operating in the environmental field. Romanian Ambassador Radu Onofrei hailed Jordan’s role in the region as well as its friendly ties with EU countries, adding this qualifies the Kingdom to be an ecological link and play a role in environmental awareness.
