Tropical Storm Nadine trolled the Atlantic Ocean while Tropical Depression Kristy was falling apart in the Pacific Monday, U.S. forecasters said. Nadine, with maximum sustained winds of 70 mph, was 675 miles southwest of the Azores Islands, moving east-northeast at 17 mph, the National Hurricane Center in Miami said in its 5 a.m. EDT advisory. No watches or warnings were in effect. Nadine was expected to shift to the northeast and lose some forward speed late Monday, forecasters said. Tropical storm-force winds extended outward up to 195 miles from center. Nadine isn't expected to change in intensity during the next 48 hours. In the Pacific, meanwhile, Kristy was expected to become a remnant low Monday, forecasters said. The National Hurricane Center said Kristy, with maximum sustained winds of 35 mph, was about 630 miles west-northwest of the southern tip of Baja California, Mexico, and moving on a north-northwest track at 7 mph. No coastal watches or warnings were posted. The tropical depression is expected to lose some forward speed during the next 24 hours. Swells generated by Kristy could affect southern and central Baja California before subsiding Tuesday, forecasters said.
