An extra boost of power is what distinguishes this B5 Bi-Turbo with its predecessor. There seems to be little in the way of styling changes made to the new B5 BiTurbo; the revised tuning package, however, significantly boosts power. The twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 benefits from an increase of 32hp and 22lb-ft of torque, and now produces 533hp and 538lb-ft. Power is sent to the rear wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission and Alpina's Switch-Tronic system. As a result it boasts a new standstill to 62mph time of 4.5 seconds, down from 4.7, and the top speed has increased by 7 mph to 198 mph. These figures are comparable to the BMW F10 M5, which is rated at 560hp and 501lb-ft of torque and that manages 0-62 mph in 4.4 seconds. With respect to the car's efficiency, 22.4mpg has been quoted as the car's average economy with CO2 emissions of 244g/km.Similar upgrades have been made to the B5 Biturbo Touring, which boasts almost identical figures to the saloon. Both cars could well make an appearance at Geneva, although this has yet to be confirmed.
