Hyundai Motor Company has launched the new, enhanced 2014 Elantra across the Middle East, introducing a number of design upgrades as well as a range of cutting-edge features and an enhanced six-speed transmission. The mid-size Elantra sold 71,000 units in the first nine months of 2013 across the region, proving to be the most popular Hyundai model in the region over recent months. The Elantra has also topped its class for three years running in ALG’s influential annual North American Residual Value Awards, emphasising the model’s acknowledged quality and reliability. Key upgrades in the 2014 Elantra include new design radiator grille, bumper and projection headlamps with LED guide light technology and newly designed fog lights at the front. A new black two-tone rear bumper has been included, while the side is fitted with optional chrome mouldings. It also comes with a choice of one steel and three variations of alloy wheels in flangeless designs for a stronger, sturdier appearance and a neat, clean finish. The result is an overall increase in vehicle length of 22mm. The interior, in turn, has also benefited from careful attention. Upon entering the cabin, stainless steel door steps add to the premium quality. The new supervision cluster provides the driver with a highly integrated information system via a 3.4-inch OLED display screen. New technologies introduced on the Elantra, for the first time in the Middle East, may include an optional 7-inch touch screen navigation system and ventilated front seats to keep cool on those hot days. The optional full automatic air conditioning allows all passengers to enjoy individually customized comfort. The audio screen comes in a choice of standard mono TFT LCD, or an optional 4.3-inch colour TFT LCD touch screen with a rear view camera available. An enhanced 6-speed transmission, which is mated to the 164ps 2.0MPI engine, is operated via the new TGS knob and offers drivers better driving performance. Customers in the Middle East can also choose from the 150ps 1.8L engine or 130ps 1.6L engine. The new 2014 Elantra also benefits from Hyundai’s Flex Steer system, which offers three driver-selected steering calibrations – normal, comfort and sport – improving the overall drive experience. Six new exterior colours have been introduced for Middle East customers, including stone blue, dazzling blue, tropical sea blue, brilliant red, satin amber and coffee bean. The Middle East will receive the new model in early January, and prices will start from around SR56,000 ($14,900) depending on exact specification. Source: TradeArabia
