Yes, we know that our electric vehicles are the way of the future and all that, but the sales figures have proven that people aren’t ready yet. Thankfully, there are still automakers out there that believe a good old fashioned lightweight chassis and some advanced engineering will solve your fuel bills. One such company is Mazda, who despite being a major Japanese automaker, has steered away from making electric vehicles on its own. In fact, the way they’ve developed the CX-5 crossover and the Mazda6 sedan shows that they don’t even focus that much on turbos. At a recent launch even in Scotland for the aforementioned CX-5, the Japanese automaker posted fake road signs with messages like 'EV Drivers Hitchhiking', 'Abandoned EVs Ahead', and 'Next Charging Point: 225 Miles Away.' "Electric cars are for the future. By 2020, 5 percent of car sales will be electric at best. Until obstacles such as cost, range and charging times are overcome, they are not for Mazda, at least as mainstream production vehicles," said Mazda CEO Takashi Yamanouchi at the LA Auto Show last November.
