Seoul - Arabstoday

In an effort to expand into emerging markets, Nissan may take a name from their past to help them out. As Nissan continues to expand into various world markets, the Japanese automaker is reportedly considering bringing back the Datsun brand.Although this isn't the first time we've heard this rumor, Nissan Chief Executive Carlos Ghosn has said in the past that he'd like to see Datsun on the streets once again. This time, however, it seems like things may be happening for real - especially as Nissan has growing competition from South Korean brands Hyundai and Kia.Yahoo News is reporting that Japan's largest business daily, the Nikkei, claims that Nissan is supposedly considering reviving the brand as early as 2014 in an effort to market cheap cars in emerging markets.Datsun was launched back in 1932 in Japan and eventually made its way to America in 1958. In 1970 they introduced what is perhaps their most famous model, the 240Z.However, in 1981 the Datsun name was dropped entirely in an effort to market the entire lineup under the Nissan brand. If the Datsun brand is revived, then we doubt it will be sold in North America or even Europe. More than likely, it would be sold in South America, Thailand, and other parts of Southeast Asia.
