This car will distract you from everything else and will be on your mind the entire day. German tuning firm Pogea Racing has literally become hero of the week for us here at CarBuzz. Like many of our readers, we've always been fans of the Corvette, especially the early generations. But what we love just as much is when someone takes a classic Vettes and gives it a dose of modern technology. This updated 1959 Corvette by Pogea Racing, in the words of Eduard Pogea himself, "unites classic automobile design in balance with the latest in modern vehicle technology. Our objective was to marry contemporary driving characteristics, a terrifically powerful engine, dependable brakes, and a refined vehicle interior with classic bodywork."Have your attention yet? It gets better. The chassis consists of an in-house tube frame manufactured in cooperation with Foose Design. This not only improves the convertible's torsional stiffness, but also forms a solid base on which the tuners were able to mount height adjustable coilover suspension. Along with modern drive and brake systems, Pogea Racing swapped in an LS3 small-block 6.2-liter V8 with 485hp.Mated to a five-speed manual, the tuners went with Edelbrock exhaust manifolds combined with a stainless steel exhaust system. With these mods, this old-new classic can go from 0 to 62 mph in 3.9 seconds and has a top speed of 179 mph.Pogea also widened the wheel wells by doubling the original mudguards, resulting in a larger rear end that's also equipped with an LED rear light cluster.Painted in bright red and white, this color combination continues to the interior as well. Complete with leather seating and a flat bottom steering wheel, Pogea also added an Alpine multi-media system with satnav. No official pricing or timing of availability has been announced, but we can't imagine a lack of potential buyers just waiting to get behind the wheel.
