Thailand's vehicle production in 2012 exceeded 2 million units, a first for its industry, the chairman of an industrial group said. Federation of Thai Industries Chairman Payungsak Chartsutipol said the Thai Automotive Industry Club, which represents manufacturers, set a target of 2 million for the year, a goal exceeded in November. "The club has now set itself a target of manufacturing 3 million units a year within five years," he said. Thailand is the world's 10th largest vehicle builder and sixth largest exporter of vehicles and automotive parts and its manufacturers include all Japanese car companies, as well as BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Ford and General Motors, the Bangkok Post said Friday.
