If you ever get to China, this is the car you want waiting for you at the airport The new top-of-the-range XJ Ultimate has been unveiled at the Beijing Motor Show with a tidy promotional video.Built with new exterior details and superior levels of refinement, the XJ Ultimate is based on the long-wheel-base version of the car and the latest updates include revised front bumper intakes with chrome surround trim, 20-inch 'Maroa' forged alloys, oval tailpipes, and Ultimate badging now features under the XJ nameplate and in the front fender vents.The XJ Ultimate is also the first Jaguar available with the new 3.0-liter V6 supercharged gasoline engine, but can be specified with the existing 5.0-liter V8 supercharged unit or the 3.0-liter V6 turbocharged diesel. All powertrains drive through eight-speed transmissions.As with all luxury sedans in China, the interior is what matters as most owners here never set foot in the driver's seat, preferring to be chauffeured around while they sip on champagne and entertain guests in the back. With that in mind, the XJ Ultimate really delivers.Two individually tailored rear seats are trimmed in semi-aniline premium natural leather and come with power adjustment and recline, lumbar support, massage function and climate controls. At the touch of a button a rear business table powers into place, machined from solid aluminum with piano black trim. Underneath which can be found a pair of bespoke champagne flutes.A champagne chiller conveniently resides between the rear seats, cooling the bottle to the perfect temperature and presenting it whenever the cabinet is opened.An iPad and keyboard are housed in the rear of the front seats, while a rear-seat entertainment package comes with twin headrest-mounted screens and wireless headphones.Spectacular sound is provided by a 15-channel, 20-speaker surround sound system engineered specifically for the XJ by Meridian. Interior finishes include Herringbone veneer, bespoke LED lighting and machined aluminum. The first 20 models will be finished in Celestial Black but the car can be color-matched to any shade of the customer's choosing. There's no official word on pricing but sources suggest a price tag north of $175,000.
