The BAC Mono will make its way across the pond from Britain and go on sale in the U.S. First we had the impressive Ariel Atom. KTM then joined the fray with their X-Bow, infiltrating the lightweight and sporty nouveau riche go-kart-slash-supercar designed for the track market. In an attempt to one-up its American competition, BAC is set to bring their Mono track car across the pond, thanks to a recently signed deal with California-based distributors Sector111 LLC. You may recall Sector111 as the distributors for the Ariel Atom, the Lotus Exige and Elise. The Stig's choice for car of the year for 2011 will arrive in 2012, however potential buyers will have to act fast as less than 12 will be available (and 6 have already been reserved). The BAC Mono weighs only 1,190lbs and runs on a 2.3-liter Cosworth engine with a power output of 280hp. It is mated to a sequential-shift Hewland transmission. Performance is measured from 0-60mph in 2.8 seconds and it has a top speed of 170mph."The BAC Mono is the single most exciting sports car to come from the UK in a long time," stated Shinoo Mapleton, President of Sector111."The US market has a real appetite for finely designed and engineered products. We are proud to be partnered with BAC and will surely be making a few discerning sports car enthusiasts very happy!"The BAC Mono is expected to start pricing at around $130,000. It sold for £79,950 back in the UK. In case you didn't know, the Mono is not street-legal.
