Volkswagen’s style-heavy four-door-coupe, the CC, gets a mid-cycle refresh for the 2013 model year. Changes are minor, and most serve to tie the car’s styling in to other models currently in VW’s lineup. Up front, the new, narrow HID headlights are accented by LED running lights, and the bumper gets the now-familiar angular treatment seen on the Jetta and Passat. In the rear, LED lighting serves to give the new CC a more modern and dramatic look. Inside, most changes are reserved to a shuffling of trim options meant to make the CC product line a bit simpler for consumers. Last year’s Lux Plus and Lux Limited variants have been dropped, but Volkswagen’s added Sport Plus and VR6 Lux versions to the product line. As you’d expect, the price has been upped slightly, with the CC range now stretching from $30,250 to $41,420, as compared to last year’s range of $28,515 to $40,090. The base 2.0T Sport model now starts at $30,250 with a manual transmission, or $31,350 with VW’s six-speed DSG gearbox, and both models are special-order only. The least expensive model on the showroom floor will be the 2.0T Sport with LED Daytime Running Lights and Adaptive Front Lighting, which starts at $30,610 for the six-speed manual and jumps to $31,710 with the six-speed DSG gearbox. Next comes the all-new 2.0T Sport Plus, which gives buyers 18-inch alloy wheels, a navigation system and comes only with the DSG gearbox. Sport Plus models will be priced from $32,850. The CC Lux line starts with the 2.0T Lux, which gives buyers unique 18-inch wheels, brushed aluminum trim, a sunroof and ambient lighting, and is priced from $35,355. Stepping up to the VR6 Lux gets you a larger engine mated to a six-speed automatic gearbox, leather seating, a headlight washer system and a price of $37,730. Topping out the line is the all-wheel-drive VR6 4Motion Executive, which comes with a Tiptronic transmission, massaging driver’s seat, Park Distance Control and a Dynaudio Premium Sound System, priced from $41,420. The R-Line CC will return, again powered by the 2.0T engine, but not until early 2013. Look for the other CC models to begin hitting dealerships this spring.
