Two website journalists have been detained at the Syndicate of Journalists upon arrest warrants issued by the prosecution, said the Interior ministry's security media office on Monday.
The pair, identified as Amr Ismail Badr and Mahmoud Hosni Mahmoud Mohamed, were wanted upon charges of inciting violation of a protest law, said the ministry.
A police force was deployed to arrest them in Shabein Qanatar of Qalyoubia, north of Cairo, where they live, by there were not found there, according to the security office.
Later, the police were informed that they were hiding at the press syndicate. The police referred the matter to the prosecution which ordered to arrest and bring the pair from there.
A police force was sent to the syndicate where the two men surrendered to the police, said the ministry.
The ministry stressed that the police did not storm the press syndicate building. The force asked the security office there about the two men who surrendered them without any resistance, said the interior ministry.
