AFP correspondent Simon Martelli was arrested on Tuesday while covering a student demonstration in Khartoum, according to a Sudanese security official. Martelli, a British national, was detained while talking to students and taking pictures, the official said without providing any further details. The French and British embassies in Khartoum have been informed that Martelli failed to return to the AFP bureau in the Sudanese capital after going out to cover the demonstration. AFP was unable to contact the correspondent and has no information about where he is being detained.
