Washington - UPI

A long list of celebrities and production executives have made Hillary Clinton's campaign the expected leader when it comes to contributions from the entertainment industry.

Variety reports the presidential hopeful's campaign has drawn donors including Reese Witherspoon, Barbara Streisand and Tobey Maguire to raise more than $46 million. Candidates were called to submit their quarterly campaign finance reports to the Federal Election Commission Wednesday.

Clinton's campaign website posted a list of individuals who have collected at least $100,000 since her April launch. Variety observes that among those listed are affluent entertainment and media figures including Comcast executive David L. Cohen and his wife, Newsweb Corp. Chairman Fred Eychaner, Beverly Hills attorney Carol Hamilton, CAA's Michael Kives, HBO's Michael Lombardo, his husband Sonny Ward and other notable leaders in the industry.

Streisand reportedly contributed the maximum amount she could give to Clinton's campaign: $5,400 to cover both the primary and general elections.

John Podesta, chairman of Hillary for America, focused on the amount of donors who have contributed to the former secretary of state's campaign instead of the amount raised. "We're running a different kind of race," he wrote in a recent letter to supporters. "More than 250,000 people have chipped in."

Among those 250K individuals were other celebrities such as Magic Johnson, Chris Meledandri, Adam Shankman, Ari Emanuel and Dakota Fanning. Leonardo DiCaprio, Elizabeth Banks and Howard Gordon are among other donors who physically attended recent fundraiser events in LA.

Variety says the SuperPAC poised to fund Clinton's bid, Priorities USA Action, is expected to raise over $15 million for its chosen campaign. Jeffrey Katzenberg of Dreamworks Animation is said to be aiding the PAC raise money for the group.

Washington Post reported earlier this month, before official reports were in, that Steven Spielberg and J.J. Abrams were also top donors to Priorities USA.
