Egypt's Grand Mufti denounced on Thursday the killing of three Muslim students at a university in North Carolina, describing the shooting as "a racist and terrorist crime."
"The killing reveals the ugly face of Islamophoiba," Ibrahim Negm, an adviser to the Mufti, told the US's National Public Radio.
Negm lamented what he called "media silence" over the killing of the three Muslim students.
It is believed that the three youths - identified as Deah Shaddy Barakat, 23, his wife Yusor Mohammad Abu-Salha, 21 and her sister Razan Mohammad Abu-Salha, 19 - were killed by Craig Stephen Hicks, 46, who turned himself into police.
