Egypt's Supreme Electoral Commission (SEC) on Saturday said specialized committees would be formed to monitor media reports on the next parliamentary elections.
Head of the Alexandria Court of Appeal and SEC Member Serri Mohamed El Gamal will chair the committee.
The committee will prepare daily reports on media coverage of the elections and violations made by media outlets to be presented to a six-member higher committee at the SEC General Secretariat.
The six members are five judges and the head of the State Information Service's Press Center.
The media outlets violating the SEC rules will be obligated to publish an apology.
The SEC opened Saturday the application process for local and international media outlets and NGOs to observe the upcoming parliamentary elections.
The application process will last until 20 August.
