Estonian Foreign Minister Urmas Paet
Tallinn - XINHUA

The Estonian Foreign Ministry on Monday began a week-long program for young journalists and journalism students from countries where it has an embassy to help them better understand the nation.
The Ministry is focusing on the history, culture and foreign policy of Estonia, as well as providing an overview of Estonian society, business and research developments.
"Our hope is that what these journalists see and experience in Estonia during the week will lead them to come back here, to communicate with Estonian people and local experts, and to inspire them to keep an eye on media coverage of what is going on in our country," said Foreign Minister Urmas Paet.
In its "100 Friends" program, the Foreign Ministry, in collaboration with the Government Office, hopes to have a total of 25 young journalists and journalism students participate in a lead-up event to Estonia's centennial in 2018.
The group will visit media operations around Tallinn and Tartu universities, and governmental and cultural sites, as well as a series of lectures on Estonian life.
