Yemeni journalist Shaza al-Harazi is being honored with a Global Leadership Award for her role in supporting human rights, the group Vital Voices said. The U.S.-based award honors courageous and innovative women whose leadership advances economic, political and social progress, the group said. The organization, formed in 1997, trains and mentors women in 144 countries. Al-Harazi was selected alongside nine other women, including five Arab women, for her reporting on human rights for Yemen Times. She has gained national attention as a social media influencer, Vital Voices said/ The awards will be given June 6 in a ceremony at The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C.
