Vice - President of the Republic, Hassabo Mohamed Abdul-Rahman, has announced stoppage of the pre-issuance control on newspapers, calling on the press to stick to responsibility in doing the journalism work.
This came in his address Tuesday to the General Assembly of the Sudanese Journalists Union at its headquarters in Al-Moqran quarter in Khartoum.
Hassabo has affirmed the government commitment to the national and societal dialogue, stressing that dialogue is the best means for uniting the national rank, which is a strategic goal of the state.
In his address, the First Vice - President underscored the great and effective role of the media in leading the society and elevating the value of religion and protecting the faith and the homeland.
He warned of any attempt to misuse the press for destruction of the society entity.
Hassabo said that the state has held the National Conference on Media Issues as the first of the comprehensive reform conferences in the country, based on its belief on the importance of the media.
The First Vice - President has reiterated the state commitment to implementation of the outcome of the National Conference on Media Issues.
