Gaza
Brussels - KUNA

The International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) Wednesday advised all journalists who continue to report in Gaza to remain vigilant at all times, even during periods of ceasefire, after two journalists were killed on duty.
Italian photographer Simone Camillia, 35, who worked for The Associated Press, and Palestinian photographer Ali Abuafash, 38, who worked for AFP, were killed today in Beit Lahia, north of the Gaza Strip while photographing attempts to dismantle an unexploded Israeli bomb.
They were taking photos of local technicians as they tried to dismantle the bomb when it exploded. Another Palestinian photographer, Hatem Mousa, 37, who also works for Associated Press, was seriously injured in the incident.
"We are deeply saddened to hear of the death of these two journalists and we send our deepest condolences to their families and colleagues," said IFJ President Jim Boumelha.
"Their deaths clearly show that even during times of ceasefire potential dangers remain in Gaza. Journalists covering the region must remain alert at all times and take every precaution to stay safe, while media owners must be mindful of their journalists' well-being and ensure that they are supported and protected," he added in a statement.
The Brussels-based IFJ represents more than 600,000 journalists accross 134 countries.
