 Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Marziyeh Afkham on Tuesday categorically rejected as "totally untrue" a Reuters report alleging that Iranian officials have demanded partial removal of sanctions only in specific areas.
Afkham's remarks came after Reuters quoted an Iranian official as saying that Iran favors gradual removal or removal of sanctions only in certain specific areas.
"This is by no means true," Afkham said in reaction to the Reuters report today.
"Such fabrication of new is done to disturb the present atmosphere reigning the time left to reach an agreement," the Iranian foreign ministry spokeswoman added.
Afkham underlined that none of the speculations made by some foreign media which are usually driven by special political intentions is true.
The Reuters news agency had claimed that Iran in the recent round of the talks with the world powers has proposed a compromise deal.
"In the negotiations with six major powers, the Iranians say they are no longer demanding a total end to economic sanctions in return for curbing their nuclear program and would accept initially lifting just the latest, most damaging, sanctions," Reuters said.
"Under their most recent offer, Iranian officials have told Reuters that Iran's leadership would be satisfied with removing crippling U.S. and European Union energy and banking sanctions imposed in 2012," the report added, claiming that the proposal has the backing of Iran's Supreme Leader.
