Media's main role is to reflect facts with utmost transparency and objectivity, Minister of Information and State Minister for Youth Affair Sheikh Salman Sabah Al-Salem Al-Humoud Al-Sabah stressed Sunday. Sheikh Salman said that Kuwait, under the leadership of His Highnesses the Amir and His Highness the Crown Prince, has exerted all efforts to support journalists and the freedom of speech, which is part of any democratic life. This remark was made during Sheikh Salman's reception of members of the Arab Journalists Union, headed by Ahmad Yousef Bahbahani. The latest developments seen in world and Arab arenas emphasize the "great role of media outlets" for projecting these events objectively, transparently, and professionally, he said. He stressed the role of the union is to develop the skills of Arab journalists and improve their performance. Kuwait is currently hosting the Arab Journalists Union permanent bureau meeting, which aims at discussing the current political situation in the Arab world, vocational and financial situation of the Union and its affiliate organs. On his part, the union's deputy chairman Mo'ayid Allami expressed his appreciation to the State of Kuwait for hosting the meeting and hoped that it would meet its expected goals.
