People in Moscow on Friday will pay their last respects to writer Vladimir Orlov, the author of the most popular novel "Altist (viola player) Danilov". Orlov died here on August 5 at the age of 77. Civil funeral rites are to commence at the Central House of Writers at 11:00. The prosaic is to be buried at the Troyekurovo Cemetery, the writer's s widow Lidia Orlov told Itar-Tass.
Lidia said, "Vladimir died at home at night after a long illness. He had been at work until the last day".
Prosaic Sergei Yesin, former Rector of the Literary Institute named after Maxim Gorky, told Itar-Tass in an interview, "Vladimir Orlov was an outstanding writer. I witnessed his evolvement. We started our writing careers together way back as journalists. He very quickly became famous upon writing the story "The Salty Melon". We worked together for years at the Literary Institute's "Literary Mastery" Chair. He conducted a seminar of his own, training a whole series of fine writers. Great thanks to him for that".
