Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will launch a media campaign against the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague and its Prosecutor Fatou Bensouda, Haaretz reported Sunday.
Netanyahu's campaign aims to highlight the court's lack of jurisdiction and authority in investigating Israel, the newspaper said.
Haaretz noted that Netanyahu’s move comes despite a recommendation by the Foreign Ministry to disregard the probe and not engage in direct attacks against the court.
A senior official at the Prime Minister’s bureau said that a decision was made to take action to foil the Court Prosecutor’s decision to launch the preliminary investigation.
