Manama - Arabstoday

Qatar has called for more sports journalists who will cover athletic events in the region. “I suggest holding a sports forum within a work plan to train journalists who will keep up with the developments and modernism tendencies in the Arab countries,” Ahmad Saad Al Buainain, the head of Qatar News Agency (QNA) and president of the Federation of Arab News Agencies (Fana), said. “We are ready to host the first workshop to train sports journalists, especially that Doha will hold several international events, especially the 2022 World Cup finals,” he told the heads of Arab news agencies convening in the Qatari capital. Lack of local expert coverage Sports editors in Arab media have often complained about the lack of local expert coverage of athletic events. QNA officials also called for establishing a regional centre that will expand the dissemination of news to Arab children. “We need to reinforce the bonds between children and their Arab social and historic environment through easy and simple ways that take into consideration their age and understanding standards,” Abdullah Al Mudhaffar, the head of the Qatari delegation to the meeting, said. Collective consciousness “The centre will contribute to forming a collective consciousness among Arab children, based on objectivity and scientific thinking,” he said. QNA has launched a media site for children that provides young people with simple information, he said.  “The news for children aims to reinforce the identity of the Arab children and to promote their awareness about their rights and duties. It also seeks to invigorate their contribution to news and to motivate their sense of creativity and their power to express themselves.”
