The 7th meeting of the Arab Committee for electronic media, headed by Bahrain and the participation of representatives of a number of media figures in Arab countries kicked off here on Monday. Chairman of the Committee and Director of Media Affairs in the Bahraini Ministry of Information Yosuf Mohammed said the committee discussed what has been implemented of recommendations reached during the sixth meeting of the Arab Committee for the electronic media. He said in a press statement that more than 15 items listed on the agenda were discussed today, with the aim of reaching recommendations to serve the electronic media sector, adding that the recommendations of the previous meetings and the development of plans and regulatory frameworks were also re-examined during the two-day session. Mohammed pointed out that the conferees emphasized the importance of activating the exchange of radio and television programs on the electronic media in member states, with an emphasis on the importance of this new media and the development of appropriate legislation for it. He added that the participants also discussed the establishment of a grand prize to encourage those interested and specialists in the field of electronic media, saying that the conferees also agreed on activating the website of the committee and update it by the members.
