Foreign and Expatriates Minister Gebran Bassil on Thursday categorically underlined that the Lebanese position on the issue of the Arab-Israeli conflict and the Palestinian cause is 'constant and unyielding.'
"The Lebanese stance on the question of Palestine is fixed in harmony with the international legitimacy, and within the framework of the Arab and Palestinian legitimate rights and their full restoration, as well as within the Arab peace initiative unanimously agreed upon in March 2002 in Beirut," a statement by Minister Bassil's Press office read on Thursday.
Minister Bassil's words came in reply to the edited segment of his interview to the pan-Arab "Al-Mayadeen" Channel two days ago, currently circulated by some social media websites and news outlets.
Bassil stressed in his statement that the purpose of the circulated fragmented clip was to distort his well-known stance via-a-vis Israel as an aggressive entity that practices state terrorism.
"It is also known who is behind this campaign and who joined it to become programmed and systematized," the statement said, adding that such an attempt aims at striking Bassil's stance proclaimed at the Arab League
