Indian PM Narendra Modi
Abu Dhabi - WAM

An Indian newspaper has highlighted the visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the UAE on Sunday, saying the trip has the capability of opening a storehouse of opportunities and for taking mutual relations to a higher level.

In an editorial published last Tuesday, the Daily Milap said that the UAE has won the admiration of the world through the economic wonders it has achieved which has set an example of progress for India.

Published under the title, "PM Modi's trip to UAE," the editorial said that from a foreign policy perspective, the Indian Prime Minister's upcoming visit to the UAE which comes after almost 30 years since the last one, is a very solid and important step. "Both nations have a storehouse of opportunities which have been lying unused due to one reason or the other," it said.

The editorial also said that "the visit has the capability of opening this store and taking it to another level altogether. It is very necessary for Modi's government to give strength to its relations with the Arab nations so that India may find its identity in the region besides the sphere of Israel and Iran. All GCC nations are important in their own ways but the progress and the solid foundation laid by the UAE with its road chosen from the very beginning, is itself an example and unique.

"India can derive immense encouragement and strength from this example. The population of Indian-origin living there to pursue business and employment are not only limited to the economic arena. They have built a bridge between the two countries which is a major thoroughfare for mutual relations. The contribution of governments can be very helpful in making this path more useful and productive. It is hoped that the trip will enthuse new courage and freshness for relations," it added.

The paper went on to say that "The manner in which the United Arab Emirates has won the admiration of the world by its economic wonders, is a torch for India in its progress. The centre of culture and tourism developed in the desert is worthy of the pride of the entire region. The way the oil economy was used and developed for the progress of the people and the modernisation of the country is a message from the UAE in economic planning."

In conclusion the Indian newspaper said that the UAE's ability to apply foreign wisdom, intelligence, while strengthening its own faith and culture is a lesson worth learning and one that is very necessary for India too. "By making common factors as the base for their relations, both India and UAE can develop systems which are not only useful for both the countries but are also helpful in making a better and peaceful climate for the whole world. Both nations have leaders who can achieve this, only doors need to be opened," it said.
