Journalists working for private and state-run press institutions will be able to receive the technology allowance with the recently-approved 300-pound increase on Monday and Tuesday respectively, Chairman of the Syndicate of Journalists Abdel Mohsen Salama said on Thursday.
Speaking to MENA, Salama said the Finance Ministry had sent the 9.5-million-pound cheque to the National Press Authority on Wednesday, which in turn will send it to the different press institutions on Sunday.
The new increase in technology allowance will be paid retroactively as of July 2017, Salama noted, extending thanks to President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, Prime Minister Sherif Ismail and Finance Minister Amr el Garhy for their continued support of Egyptian journalists.
