Media persons from across the UAE will take part in a march in Abu Dhabi on Friday.
The ‘Walk to Give’ march, organised by the National Media Council (NMC), is scheduled to take place from 3pm, from Zayed Sports City to Shaikh Zayed Grand Mosque and back again, said an NMC press release on Wednesday.
The community engagement event is part of NMC’s efforts to support the ‘Year of Giving’ initiative launched by President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
Held in partnership with the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (Adnoc) and Etisalat, the march aims to highlight the media sector’s role in supporting and contributing to the success of key national initiatives.
The event seeks to involve members of the national media sector in promoting the noble messages and objectives of the UAE’s ‘Year of Giving’ and other national initiatives, as well as to inspire members of society and encourage their active participation
The march adds to the nationwide efforts to highlight the UAE’s distinguished global reputation for volunteer work and community engagement, while reinforcing the important values of charity and social responsibility across the media sector.
‘Walk to Give’ targets all media professionals in the UAE, including employees of UAE-based media outlets, correspondents from international media, social media influencers, employees in government communication offices, public relations and advertising agencies, the publishing sector, and anyone licensed by the National Media Council — in addition to students in communications and media faculties in universities around the UAE.
Participants at the march will be able to purchase coupons worth Dh100, provided by the Emirates Red Crescent Authority, in support of their various charitable activities, said the press release.
Media professionals interested in taking part in the initiative can register on the event’s official website: namshi.nmc.gov.ae
