Orbit Showtime Network (OSN), the subscription TV service in the Middle East and North Africa, said on Tuesday it has added new channels to its high definition offering. The company, a joint venture between Kuwait's KIPCO and Mawarid Holding, said in a statement that it has added four new channels, bringing the line-up of HD channels to 17. And a senior company official said customers can expect further HD channels to be added later this year.National Geographic Channel HD, STAR Movies HD, STAR World HD and Nat Geo Adventure HD join the HD package while entertainment channels Crime and Investigation and ITV Granada have been added to the OSN channel line-up.David Butorac, CEO of OSN said: "We are thrilled to launch four brand new HD channels making our HD line-up even better value with even more high quality channels."The availability of high definition content is something OSN viewers have come to expect as standard and the launch of a further four channels will allow us to accommodate the quality programming our subscribers expect."In maintaining our leadership, we look forward to bringing our customers more channels with even more choice of premium content in brilliant HD later this year." Last month, OSN said it was set to launch a musical series inspired by the success of the American TV show ‘Glee’. ‘Hindistani’ will debut in October as the cornerstone of OSN’s comedy entertainment channel and tells the story of an Arab shop owner in Riyadh trying to balance his struggling business and his romance with an Indian woman. In May OSN said all suspended TV channels had been restored after a small fire affected broadcasting.Around 75 television channels were temporarily suspended following a fire and a subsequent power shortage at the broadcast centre in Dubai’s Media City.
