Acting Director General of Bahrain Radio and Television Corporation(BRTC), Ali Mohammed Al Rumaihi stressed that the Information Affairs Authority has completed all the preparations to fully cover the events of the 33rd GCC Summit hosted by the Kingdom of Bahrain during the period from 24 – 25 of December 2012. During an interview with Bahrain News Agency (BNA) Ali Mohammed Al Rumaihi said, “ Information Affairs Authority has started all the preparations since announcing that Bahrain is hosting the summit, and it was through adopting a media plan including Bahrain’s Radio and Television, the News Center, and BNA, and the coverage is mainly based on live transmission along the week of the Summit.” Al Rumaihi also pointed out that the coverage of the Summit will be based on the live connectivity between the Television studios and the media center, together with presenting a distinctive package of Radio, news and Television programmes during the days accompanying the Summit. “The arrival and departure of Their Majesties and Highnesses the leaders of the GCC states and the sessions will be transmitted live followed by a series of political and economic analysis and comments through hosting a number of political analysts and senior journalists to shed light on the issues included in the summit agenda,” Al Rumaihi said. On the other hand, Al Rumaihi was asked questions about the services and capabilities provided by the Information Affairs Authority to make the summit successful on the media level, how the Television got ready to transmit the summit, and what Bahrain’s Radio role was in transmitting the summit’s events. He was also asked about the preparations of the News Center to make the summit successful on the media level, as well as the role of BNA to cover the summit. He was also asked if the presence of the media people will form an opportunity to enhance more communication between the Gulf, Arab and Foreign media people.
