Pay-TV service Quickflix, previously only available in Australia, has launched in New Zealand, providing the ability to watch movies and TV shows over the internet on supported devices. It offers "unlimited" access to its catalogue of BBC drama and comedy programmes, and Hollywood movies for NZ$16.99 a month, with an introductory price of NZ$9.99, and no minimum contract term. More content partnerships are expected to be announced in the coming weeks. Quickflix will also provide a pay-per-view service, which it says will deliver latest release material for NZ$6.99 per movie. Programmes can be viewed on computers, internet-connected Sony Bravia TVs and on other TVs that are connected to the internet through Blu-ray players and PlayStation 3 consoles. Quickflix said iPhones and iPads would support the service from May, followed by other internet-capable TVs, smartphones and tablets "over the coming months". Quickflix CEO Chris Taylor said: "The advent of smart devices in the home is transforming the choices available to consumers all over the world. The Quickflix streaming 'smart channel' will change the way Kiwis experience movies and entertainment services. No boxes, no contracts, just great content on demand, at an affordable price.”
