The five year (2016-2021) USAID/Lebanon Livelihoods and Inclusive Finance Expansion - LIFE project will strengthen livelihoods, advance the microfinance industry, and expand inclusive finance, in order to improve economic opportunities for under-served entrepreneurs and recipients of microfinance services.
On June 5th 2017, Matthew Lovick, LIFE's chief of party, signed a grant agreement with the General Manager of Lebanese DevelopmentCooperative (LDC),Mr. Serge Oueis, to improve livelihoods for Lebanese citizens in the different rural areas (North, South and Bekaa) while simultaneously increasing the borrower base of LDC.
Once the agreement signed, Mr. Oueis stated "LIFE project will be another successful opportunity with USAID after the Lebanese Investment in Microfinance/LIM project." He added "We need to work hard and transparently to fulfill its objectives."
LIFE will be furnishing ongoing technical assistance and operational support to LDC for the 5 year duration of the project
