The head of the National Telecom Regulatory Authority Amr Badawi said the authority do not intend to block Viber application which is used in smartphones for text messaging, exchanging images, video and audio media messages. Badawi told MENA on Thursday that the authority is discussing the software's effects on the country's economy, security and politics. The client software is available for Android, BlackBerry OS, iOS, Series 40, Symbian, Bada and Windows Phone. Viber works on both 3G and WiFi networks. As many as 175 million users are using the application.
