Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab chaired Sunday a meeting to devise an action plan against a number of foreign channels which tarnished Egypt's reputation and incite rumors.
During the meeting, participants said that these foreign channels broadcast some materials that run counter to the Egyptian values and traditions.
The channels also pirate Egyptian movies and series.
Mahlab, meanwhile, underlined the need of protecting morals of the Egyptian society.
He also underlined the importance of maintaining intellectual property rights.
It is important to take all the necessary legal measures to prevent such practices, he went on to affirm.
An agreement was reached during the meeting to support the Egyptian channels and work on offering better content in order to be able to compete with such foreign channels.
The meeting was attended by a host of ministers along with heads of the Media Production City, the Egyptian Radio and Television Union and the Nilesat Company.
