Actress Katherine Heigl will star on new CBS pilot Doubt.
The 36-year-old former Grey's Anatomy star will play "smart, chic, successful" defense lawyer Sadie, who becomes involved with one of her clients and may be guilty of a brutal crime. KaDee Strickland was originally attached to portray the character.
The project will see Heigl reunite with former Grey's Anatomy executive producers Tony Phelan and Joan Rater, who are developing the legal drama. Orange is the New Black actress Laverne Cox, Dule Hill, Dreama Walker, Elliott Gould and Kobi Libii also star.
Cox will portray a transgender, Ivy League-educated attorney, with Hill as Sadie's law partner and close friend, Walker as a second-year associate, Gould as the law firm's head and Libii as a recent law school graduate. Teddy Sears was slated for the male lead, but will likely be replaced.
Heigl is best known for playing Izzie Stevens on ABC series Grey's Anatomy, but denied she will return to the medical drama in June. She last portrayed Charleston "Charlie" Tucker on NBC series State of Affairs, which was canceled after one season this year.
