The number of students studying at private schools rated outstanding by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) has tripled over the last 12 months, according to the latest inspection results released today by KHDA’s Dubai Schools Inspection Bureau (DSIB). The number of outstanding schools almost doubled from six last year to 11 this year, while 49 were rated good, 65 acceptable and 13 were ranked unsatisfactory, down from 16. A total of 138 schools following 13 different curriculums were inspected this year. A major finding of the survey is that nearly half of the students in private schools get either good or outstanding education. “Quality of education has improved over the last four years and the inspection results show it clearly. There is a basic change in the way schools, students as well as parents are working towards the progress,” said Dr. Abdullah Al Karam, Chairman of the Board of Directors and Director General of KHDA. Overall the numbers show that there is general improvement in the system of education as the number students in acceptable or unsatisfactory schools have marginally decreased from 56 per cent to 54 per cent.
