Two Palestinian teenagers committed suicide on Thursday after failing their high school exams. The Ministry of Education published the results of the final high school exams, known as Tawjihi, on Thursday. The high school qualification is required for admission to universities. In Tulkarem in the northern West Bank, 18-year-old Nisrin Jumaa hanged herself in her family home after learning that she had failed the Tawjihi, locals told Ma'an. Police confirmed that the teenager was pronounced dead at the Thabit Thabit Hospital. In Jabaliya refugee camp in northern Gaza, Muhammad Zaqut committed suicide by shooting himself after learning that he had failed the exams, police spokesman Ayyub Abu Shaar told Ma'an. Earlier Thursday, a teenage girl threw herself from the second floor of a building in Beit Hanoun in northern Gaza after learning she had failed the Tawjihi. She suffered pelvic and foot fractures and was transferred to the Kamal Odwan hospital, health ministry spokesman Ashraf al-Qidra said. Print
