As many as 4270 schools were prepared to serve as polling stations for the first phase of the public referendum on the new constitution to take place on Saturday, the Education Ministry announced. The first stage covers the governorates of Cairo, Alexandria, Daqahlia, Ghabria, Sharqiya, Assiut, Sohag, Aswan, North Sinai and South Sinai. While the second, to take place on December 22, will be held in the remaining 17 governorates: Giza, Qalyubia, Menofia, Beheira, Kafr El-Sheikh, Damietta, Ismailia, Port Said, Suez, Matrouh, the Red Sea, EL-Wadi El-Gadeed (New Valley), Beni Suef, Fayyoum, Minya, Luxor and Qena.
