Kuwait - KUNA

Some 500 school boys and girls have joined a beach cleanup campaign launched by a group of environment volunteers, said Nora Al-Sanousi, leader of the group in charge of the campaign. The campaign aims at disseminating environmental awareness among schoolchildren with regard to keeping beaches clean and safe and encouraging the validity of doing voluntary work for the benefit of society, she said in news remarks. She voiced much pleasure at the involvement of 500 students from 11 public schools in the beach cleanup campaign in their country. The campaign seeks to show the dangers of leaving trash and garbage on the beach which is liable to not only pollute the beach but to also have adverse effects on marine life and environment, she added. Al-Sanousi thanked all those state authorities and bodies which have contributed to a successful beach cleanup campaign.
