Turkish Minister of National Education Nabi Avci has become the guest of the Anadolu Agency Editor's Desk. Answering the questions on the agenda at the AA Headquarters in capital Ankara on Tuesday, Avci said, "The arrangement of the most significant chapters of the Democratization Package, which are the removal of headscarf ban in public institutions and student oath in primary schools, have taken effect after being published in the Official Gazette today." Avci stated that the removal of headscarf ban was an arrangement which interested a great portion of Turkish people, especially women, and resolved their problems which had lasted for years. "350 of those teachers who were forced to leave their jobs during February 28 process have applied to get reinstated," added the minister. The February 28 process refers to the infamous “post-modern coup” as a military intervention that forced late Necmettin Erbakan to resign as prime minister in 1997.
