Three young men have been charged with aggravated violence over an attack on Chinese students in southwest France, prosecutors said on Monday. The three men, aged 19 and 20, were in custody after being charged with "aggravated violence" and "using or threatening to use arms," late Sunday, the Bordeaux prosecutor's office said. French Interior Minister Manuel Valls and Agriculture Minister Stephane Le Foll have condemned the xenophobic attack. Three drunk local men assaulted six Chinese oenology students on Friday night at their home in Hostens, south of western Gironde Province. They also shouted racist insults. A female Chinese, who was seriously injured in the face by a glass bottle, was hospitalized in Bordeaux for further treatment. The Chinese government has requested French authorities to punish the attackers and ensure the safety of Chinese students in the country.
