Marking the International Day for the Handicapped, the Northern Governorate organized a lecture themed "Success Story" in collaboration with the Bahrain Friendship Society for the Handicapped at Al-Shurooq Girls Secondary School . The lecture was co-presented by Walid Hassan Bashir and Mohamed Yaqoob Deraj from the Friendship Society for the Handicapped who explained to students key educational and life factors for a family and their impact on coping with a handicapped member of a family, how to support the handicapped in order to enable their academic and career progression, and to consider disability as a catalyst and not as a disadvantage to achieve academic and societal success and advancement. Students expressed their views of assistance techniques in order to help the handicapped interact and intermingle with peers with similar efficiency and not peers with similar disability. (IY)
